Seahawks Post Strong Finish At LSU

BATON ROUGE,
Louisiana - The UNCW women's golf team shot a final round 312 Sunday to
move up three spots and finish in 17th place in the LSU Tiger Golf Classic at
the University Club.
The Seahawks posted a 54-hole total of 958 (328-318-312), to finish one shot ahead of 18th-place Kentucky (313-324-322=959). Arkansas shot a tournament-low 287 in the final round to break a four-way tie for first and claim the team title with a tournament total of 888 (305-296-287). Virginia finished eight shots back of the Razorbacks in second place with a 54-hole total of 895 while Alabama (301-300-299=900) and Tennessee (305-297-298=900) were tied for third. Freshman Lori Beth Adams posted a final-round 75 to pace the Seahawks during the final round and finish the three-day event in a tie for 52nd (81-78-75=234). Junior Sofia Hagsund shot a two-over par 74 Sunday to claim a share of 65th place with a 237 tournament total (84-79-74). Freshman Laverry Kumar (80-83-78=241a/T-78th) and senior Cristina Manrique (83-89-85=257/105) rounded out the Seahawks entry. Freshman Whitney Rhodes, who was disqualified in the first round for signing an incorrect scorecard, posted an 85 in the final round. Duke's Lindy Duncan (72-75-71=218) claimed the individual title with a par on the third playoff hole to defeat Louisville's AnnaKarin Ljungstrom (75-74-69=218). Arkansas' Emily Tubert (78-70-71=219) finished one shot back of Duncan and Ljungstrom to take third. UNCW is back in action March 25-27 in the Bryan National Collegiate at the Bryan Park Golf Course. |
