BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The UNCW women’s golf team combined for a team total 328 in the final round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic Sunday at The University Club.

The Seahawks finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 335-329-328=992, 36 strokes behind 13th place Louisiana Monroe (323-319-324=966).

“It was a tough go for the team overall,” said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. “I felt we were prepared to be more competitive but our inexperience really showed when the conditions were tough.  We have to trust our swing, our decision making and improve our short games to be more competitive.”

No. 8 Arkansas completed the wire-to-wire victory as it posted a 309 during Sunday’s final round capture the team title with a three-day total of 293-297-309=899, 10 shots ahead of second-place Tulane (298-302-309=909). Host Louisiana State (306-294-312=912) claimed third while TCU took fourth (301-303-312=916).

Junior Lori Beth Adams carded a four-over-par 76 on Sunday to earn a share of 14th place with a 54-hole total of 77-74-76=227. Sophomore Mattie Tobey posted a six-over 78 during the final round to earn a share of 64th with an 87-83-78=248 tournament scorecard. Junior Megan Burnham (83-85-91=259/T-77th), senior Danielle Lamy (88-87-84=259/T-77th) and junior Jeanne Metivier (89-96-90=275/79th) completed the Seahawks entry. Sophomore Mallory Warrick (83-86-86=255/T-72nd) competed the event as an individual entry.

“Very proud of how Lori Beth competed and played this week,” said Ho. “The golf course played very difficult this week and she was able to stay patient throughout the round.  Her putting speed was excellent on the challenging greens and her overall short game really saved her.”

Arkansas’ Emily Tubert carded an even par 72 during the final round to claim the individual title with an even-par total of 72-72-72=216. Maribel Lopez Porras (71-74-76=221) of Tulane and Madelene Sagstrom (78-68-75=221) of LSU finished five shots back of Tubert in a tie for second.
