CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Rising senior Lori Beth Adams fell to Kendall Prince, 2 down, in her second round match in the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship Thursday at the Country Club of Charleston.

Prince, a rising junior at the University of Arizona, advances to the round of 16, where she will face Lauren Diaz-Yi later today at 1 p.m. The loss brings Adams inaugural USGA appearance to a close.

Playing under partly cloudy skies, Adams took an early 1 up lead by winning the opening hole only to see Prince square the match with a victory on the 3rd.

Prince would then take the lead with a win on the 5th hole before going 2 up with another triumph on the 7th.

Adams was able to square the match at the turn, taking both 9th and 10th holes moments before Prince regained her 1 up advantage by capturing the 11th.

The back-and-forth action continued as Adams once again squared the match with a win on the 12th before Prince countered with back-to-back victories to rebuild her two-hole cushion.

Adams responded to Prince’s charge with consecutive conquests of her own on the 14th and 15th holes to knot the match once again, but Prince would take the final two holes to record the 2 up victory.
