Adams Paces UNCW In Final Round Of BNC

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - Sophomore Lori Beth Adams posted a two-over-par 74 to lead the UNCW women's golf team in the final round of the Bryan National Collegiate Sunday at the Bryan Park Players Course.
The Seahawks ended the event in 15th place with a 54-hole total of 926 (310-307-309), 15 strokes ahead of Big East member Louisville (317-316-308=941).
No. 10 Duke (298-295-289=882) and No. 14 Tennessee (293-291-298=882) finished tied for the team lead after three rounds with an 18-over-par result of 882. The two teams then engaged in a team playoff hole, with the Lady Volunteers combining for a team score of even par on the deciding hole to defeat the Blue Devils for the team crown.
Senior Sofia Hagsund carded a final round 79 to lead the Seahawks finish in a tie for 43rd place with a three-round total of 229 (75-75-79). Adams (77-81-74=232) and sophomore Laverry Kumar (80-75-77=232) were both three strokes back of Hagsund to earn a share of 60th place. Sophomore Jeanne Metivier (78-76-79=233/T65th) and senior Alei Mitchell (80-82-79=241/T-82nd) completed UNCW's entry.
Duke's Lindy Duncan (71-71-70=212) posted a two-under-par 70 on Sunday to claim the individual title with a two-shot victory over UNC Greensboro's Fanny Cnops (73-70-71=214). Tennessee's Erica Popson (71-70-216) and Ohio State's Rachel Rohanna (71-70-75=216) finished four shots back of Duncan in a tie for third at even par.
UNCW is back in action April 20-22 as it looks to defend its title at the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championships at the St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
