Release: 10/01/2012 WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women's golf team returns to the links this week as it takes part in the Windy City Collegiate Classic hosted by Northwestern University. The 54-hole, five-count-four event will take place on the par-72, 6,333-yard layout of the Glen View Golf Club in Golf, Ill. The tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. CST Monday with the first two rounds taking place on the opening day of competition. The Seahawks are scheduled to begin on the No. 1 hole at 9:00 CST. The final 18 holes are slated for a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CST Tuesday. Live stats are available for all three rounds and can be accessed by clicking on the link at the top of the page. The Seahawks are part of a talented 15-team field that features five teams ranked in Golfweek's preseason top-30, highlighted by No. 5 Arizona and featuring No. 17 Oklahoma State, the 2011 Windy City Collegiate Classic team champions, No. 26 Ohio State, No. 27 Texas Tech and No. 29 Northwestern. Also in the field are Iowa State, Kent State, Notre Dame, TCU, UC Davis, UCF, Washington and Wisconsin. Juniors Lori Beth Adams and Laverry Kumar and freshman Johanna Bjoerk will once again anchor Head Coach Cindy Ho lineup. Adams and Kumar have both gotten off to solid starts this season as they have earned two of the three CAA Golfer-of-the-Week awards handed out thus far. All three players have posted stroke averages of 75.00 or lower through five rounds. Sophomore Mallory Warrick will once again be in the lineup while junior Jeanne Metivier will make her first tournament appearance of the season. Metivier took part in 10 events last season as she helped the Seahawks capture their second straight Colonial Athletic Association Championship. UNCW continues its fall schedule Oct. 10-11 when it travels to Greenville for the ECU Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at the Greenville Golf Course. |
