WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Wilmington’s student-athletes continue to make solid academic progress and it shows in the annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) report released Wednesday by the NCAA.
All 19 of UNCW’s intercollegiate teams remain in full compliance with the governing body’s guidelines, and the men’s basketball team received a Public Recognition Award for the second consecutive year for being in the top 10 percent nationally for its work in the classroom.
“We’re very pleased once again with our academic standing,” said Kelly Mehrtens, UNCW’s athletic director. “Our student-athletes do a tremendous job, both athletically and academically, to balance their time. Competing for championships is always important, but performing well in the classroom is always first and foremost in our minds.”
The multi-year report is based on data submitted for the 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years by UNCW athletic officials.
