WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wilmington’s Wal-Mart store on Sigmon Road near Market Street now has more to offer than groceries, pharmaceutical needs and lawn care items. It has a new section, Seahawk Cove, which will delight area UNC Wilmington alumni and fans.
Saturday marked the grand opening of the teal-decorated area in the clothing department. The event drew many local supporters and even Sammy C. Hawk spent his weekend shopping the isles of the massive store.
Store manager Rick Orndorff and his staff has several items for sale, including long and short sleeve T-shirts, key chains, travel cups, street signs, hitch covers and other Seahawk essentials.
“We’re hoping this will be very successful,” said Orndorff. “We would like to add beach towels, coolers and other items for the spring and summer. We’ll also add items when we win conference championships.”
Orndorff also indicated that the Wal-Mart store in Monkey Junction may also be featuring Seahawk items soon.
