WILMINGTON, North Carolina - With nearly 400 donors registered, the 11th Annual Colonial Athletic Association Blood Challenge turned out to be a resounding success Thursday at Trask Coliseum.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) once again partnered with the local chapter of the American Red Cross to conduct the event at Trask Coliseum.

Introduced in 2002 by the conference's presidents, the Blood Challenge is part of an annual competition conducted by the CAA between the league's 12 schools. It has raised 32,106 units of blood over the past decade, helping to save 96,318 lives.

The Seahawks contributed 188 units of the 5,287 total units collected last year. Delaware won the challenge for the fifth time in 2011 with 1,086 actual donors, which resulted in 1,083 productive units of blood collected.
