WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW dropped a pair of dual meets in men's and women's swimming and diving action at the Seahawk Natatorium to national power Tennessee on Friday.

In the season opener for both programs, the Volunteers topped the Seahawks, 195-99, in the women's meet and 175-118 in the men's.

UNCW won the men's 400 Medley and 400 Free Relays while senior Stephen Conrad captured first place in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 50.36.

In the 400 Medley Relay, the team of sophomores Valtteri Halonen and C.J. Fiala, Conrad and senior Michael Williams edged the Vols for the top spot with a time of 1:32.91.

UNCW then closed the meet with a win in the 400 Free relay when sophomore Nick Lowe, junior Gabe Thran, sophomore Alex Labonge and Williams clocked in at 3:07.95.

For the Seahawk women, freshman Jenson Engen won the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.96.

UT swimmers Kelsey Floyd (10:08.23) and Amanda Carner (2:02.93) set Natatorium records in the 1000 Freestyle and 200 Backstroke, respectively.

The Volunteers combined to win 25 events.

The Seahawks return to the pool on Oct. 12-13, when they visit Old Dominion. The meet will feature two dual meets on the women's side with Richmond also participating.
