FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – UNC Wilmington’s Josh Brock fashioned a nine-over 79 in the second round and missed the cut on Saturday at the U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park Black Course.
Brock finished his first appearance at the Open with a two-round total of 83-79=162.
After struggling thorough round one, Brock opened his second round with four consecutive pars before recording the first of seven bogeys in the round. Despite his stumble, Brock would finish the front nine just three-over.
The back nine would be his undoing. He pared the ninth hole, but followed with a double bogey on 10 and back-to-back bogeys on holes 11 and 12 to put him seven over.
Brock pared three of the final five holes to finish the back nine at six-over.
