WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Wilmington won both the men and women’s meets while senior Aisha Jones qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the High Jump at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on Saturday at the Greene Track & Field Complex.
The men coasted to an impressive win with 224.5 points, while the women ran away with their meet, totaling 246.5 points.
Jones won the High Jump with a height of 1.75 meters and qualified for the NCAA East regional in Greenbsoro, N.C.
The 4x100 Relay team of seniors Alicia Phillips and Shayne Moore, sophomore Shanelle Foster and junior Corrine Dalton qualify for the ECAC championships with a first-place time of 46.98.
On the men’s side, UNCW had three individuals and two relays qualify for the IC4A Championships. Senior John Carr finished third in the 100 meters (10.85) while junior Jared Clarke (48.39) won the 400 meters and junior Devon Watlingon claimed third in the 110 Hurdles (14.83).
Both the 4x100 and 4x400 Relays finished second and third, respectively, and qualified for the IC4A Championships.
The Seahawks return to the track March 20-21 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
Other UNCW event winners: Women: Bethany Newlin (400 Hurdles), Anne Powell (Pole Vault), Whitney Jordan (Triple Jump); Men: Aaron Wiggins (Pole Vault), Ed Manning (Triple Jump), Wil Zahorodny (1500 meters).
