WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW head men’s soccer coach Aidan Heaney has released his team’s 2014 schedule, one that includes games against six teams that reached the NCAA tournament and home games against UNC Chapel Hill and Duke.

“Our schedule will be our toughest schedule during my time at UNCW and one that I am really looking forward to,” said Heaney. “The quality of the competition we face will be right up there with the toughest schedules in the country, but I feel we have a talented team who will be ready for the challenge. I anticipate the CAA will be another tight race again this season, so our non-conference games should prepare us well for league action, and I believe our players will be up to the task.”

The Seahawks open exhibition play with an August 17 home game against NC State and will head to Farmville, Va., one week later against Longwood.

UNCW visits High Point in the season opener for both sides on Aug. 29, before hosting UNCG on Sept. 1 in the Seahawk home opener.

The Seahawks will host the UNCW Courtyard Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach Classic with Elon, Winthrop and Ohio State rounding out the field. UNCW will play Ohio State and Winthrop on Sept. 5 and 7, respectively.

UNCW hosts Duke on Sept. 23 and UNC Chapel Hill on Sept. 30.

Other teams on UNCW’s schedule that played in the 2013 College Cup are Old Dominion and CAA rivals William & Mary, Delaware, Elon and Drexel.

“Along with some top RPI road games, we face opponents from the ACC, Big 10 and Big South so we have some really exciting home games for our fans to look forward to!”
