WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW senior Lori Beth Adams has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week, it was announced on Friday.

Adams opened the spring portion of the Seahawks 2013-14 schedule earlier this week by finishing in a tie for 21st in the Bruin Wave Invitational at the El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif. with a 73-72-82=227 scorecard.

Part of a talented field that included 27 of the top 100 players in the Golfstat individual rankings, Adams finished tied or ahead of 13 players on that list, including three golfers ranked in the top 30.

“Lori Beth had a strong performance at The Bruin Wave Invitational this week,” said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho.  “She displayed excellent golf while paired with UCLA's Alison Lee, currently the No. 1 ranked player in the country and proved to herself she has the game to compete with the best players on a golf course that was playing difficult for the field. Lori Beth's ball striking all three days was solid, displaying accuracy off the tee and staying out of the 4-6 inches of rough that plagued other players.  El Caballero C.C. is a very demanding golf course and she was able to stay patient, play to her strengths and have a good tournament in a strong field.”

Through five events, Adams paces the Seahawks with a 74.60 stroke average in 15 rounds played. She has finished in the top 25 in four of those five tournaments.

UNCW returns to action March 21-23 when it competes in the LSU Tiger Classic at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
