WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW Head Women’s Soccer Coach Paul Cairney announced his team’s spring schedule on Tuesday, a slate highlighted by four home contests and the program’s annual 7v7 tournament.

“Our spring schedule is possibly the most varied and competitive we have had in a while,” said Cairney. “With the loss of only three seniors, this spring’s squad will make up the bulk of our fall team. Therefore, it is vital that we continue to improve our players technically, tactically and physically. In addition, we want to develop a competitive edge where we want to win every time we step on the field.

“Some coaches say results don’t matter in this portion of our season. I disagree. Winning is a habit and we can establish this habit now. We establish it every day in training and this carries over to the games. Our young team is working hard and we look forward to playing and winning our spring games.”

UNCW opens its spring schedule March 13 with a 6:30 p.m. contest against UNC Pembroke at the UNCW Soccer Stadium and remains on its home pitch for the remainder of the month with a March 19 matchup versus Coastal Carolina (7 p.m.) and contests against East Carolina (11 a.m.) and NC State (3 p.m.) on March 22.

Cairney’s squad will take their lone road trip of the spring April 4 when it travels to Winston-Salem for the Southern Soccer Showcase, where they will face future CAA opponent Elon (5 p.m.) and host Wake Forest (8 p.m.).

The spring schedule comes to a close April 12 with the annual 7v7 tournament at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
