WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women’s basketball team takes to its home floor for the third time in four games Friday as it hosts Tulane in a 7 p.m. contest at Trask Coliseum.

Friday’s contest serves as the program’s annual “Toys for Tots” game. As part of the promotion, fans that bring a new, unwrapped toy may purchase a ticket to the game for just $3.

The Seahawks (1-3) are back in the Port City after suffering a 67-53 setback at Campbell in a mid-day matinee Tuesday at Gore Arena. Junior Kelva Atkins scored 18 points and freshman Naqaiyyah Teague added 16 for the Seahawks, who shot 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the floor but were just 5-of-19 (.263) from the free-throw line against the Camels.

UNCW did see some positives from its loss to the Camels as it posted season highs in both assists and steals during Tuesday’s contest, finishing with 14 assists on 21 baskets while recording 15 steals as they forced Campbell into 18 turnovers.

Tulane (3-0) takes to the road for the first time this season after opening the campaign with home victories over New Orleans (81-46), McNeese State (74-49) and Southeastern Louisiana (80-52).

Junior wing Adesuwa Ebomwonyi has averaged a team-high 15.0 points per game to pace and potent Green Wave attack that has shot nearly 47 percent (46.9) from the floor and 50.0 percent from 3-point range thus far.  Ebomwonyi also leads the squad in rebounds, averaging 9.7 caroms per game as Tulane has enjoyed a positive 16.3 rebounding margin (48.0-to-31.7) this season.

Junior Jamie Kaplan is second on the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game and has also dished out 26 assists (8.7 APG) thus far. Freshman guard Leslie Vorpahl has gotten off to a quick start to her college career as she is averaging 14.0 points per game, good for third on the team.

Friday’s contest serves as the second meeting between the two programs. The Green Wave posted a 73-58 victory over the Seahawks last December at Devlin Fieldhouse.

UNCW is back in action on Nov. 28 as it faces Boston College in a Thanksgiving-day showdown at 6 p.m. to open the Cancun Challenge in Cancun, Mexico.
