WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW freshman keeper Liisa Rahkola was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie-of-the-Week on Monday.

Rahkola becomes the second UNCW player to be recognized by the league in as many weeks as sophomore Maddie McCormick was named Player-of-the-Week on Sept. 9.

Rahkola helped the Seahawks extend their winning streak to four games as made five saves and did not allow a goal in 166:28 of action last week in victories over Coastal Carolina (1-0) and Francis Marion (3-1).

The Onlu, Finland, native stopped four shots to post her first career shutout against the Chanticleers and turned away one shot in the first 77 minutes versus the Patriots.

UNCW (5-5-0) begins league play Friday at Hofstra in a rematch of the 2012 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
