MT. PLEASANT, South Carolina – Junior Alyssa Ritchie won the championship of the A1 Singles flight and partnered with Angie Sekely to win the A2 Doubles final during rain-shortened play Sunday at the 12th Annual College of Charleston Women’s Tennis Invitational at the CofC Tennis Center.

“What a great way to finish the tournament,” said second-year UNCW Head Coach Evan Clark. “Alyssa and Angie have made so much improvement in their doubles game, so it’s great to see them have a great result.

“Alyssa played at an extremely high level today and recorded a really great win. It’s a testament to all of her hard work and the improvement she has made. Hamilton (Lovett) and Alix (Theodossiou) came up a bit short, but also had a great tournament.

“Overall, I’m really pleased with the entire team and their performances over the weekend.”

Ritchie, from Franklin, Ohio, outlasted Armstrong Atlantic’s Marlen Hacke, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7, to capture the A1 Singles crown. She then teamed up with Sekely for an easy 9-2 verdict over Samford’s Jessica Northcutt and Emily Mallory for the A2 Doubles title.

In the B1 Doubles finale, the College of Charleston’s Jamie Harrell and Katherine Scholfield downed Lovett and Theodossiou, 8-3.
