|Dunlap Homers Twice In Loss At Towson|
TOWSON, Maryland – Luke Dunlap homered twice and drove in three runs for UNCW, but a seven-run seventh inning lifted Towson to a 9-5 win over the 21st-ranked Seahawks on Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action at Schuerholz Park.
The Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with the win and moved to 20-21 overall and 10-7 in the CAA. The Seahawks saw their own winning streak halted at six games and dropped to 32-12 and 13-3 in the league.
Dunlap, who had four hits and four runs batted in on Friday, raised his batting average to .389 with his 3-for-4 outing at the plate. He singled in the first before homering to center in the sixth and adding a two-run shot in the eighth. Tyler Molinaro added two hits for the Seahawks, who out-hit the Tigers, 13-9.
Kurt Wertz collected three RBI’s and a pair of hits to lead the Towson lineup. Dominic Frantantuono added two hits.
Paul Beers (1-4) earned the win for Towson with seven strong innings. He allowed two runs on seven hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter.
Jack Lane (1-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing two runs on a hit and a walk in no-thirds of an inning pitched.

How it happened: Towson trailed 2-1 entering the seventh, but sent 11 hitters to the plate in the inning, scoring seven runs on six hits to take an 8-2 lead. TU also took advantage of a pair of triples to key the inning. Wertz knocked in two with his triple to right center and Fratantuono tripled two batters later to score another run.
Inside the numbers: The Seahawks were a meager 3-for-15 with runners on base and 2-for-9 with RISP … Towson landed just two of its nine leadoff hitters on base, but countered that with a 5-for-9 showing with RISP … TU also scored runners from third with less than two outs in 3-of-4 situations.
Notes: Michael Bass singled in the ninth to extend his on-base streak to 40 games and now trails Nate Hall’s school-record 43 by three games … Evan Phillips gave the Seahawks a strong three innings in his fifth start, allowing one hit and holding righthanded hitter to 0-for-8 at the plate … Luke Dunlap extended his hitting streak to a career-long 14 games while Ryan LaGrange and Michael Bass pushed theirs to 13 and seven games, respectively … The Seahawk pitchers, who lead the conference with 326 strikeouts this season, failed to record a strikeout in the game for the first time since Mar. 14, 2009, in an 11-8 win over Hofstra at Brooks Field.
