NORFOLK, VirginiaChristian MacDonald allowed one run over 7.1 innings and Corey Dick added four hits, including a home run, as UNCW finished off a Colonial Athletic Association sweep of Old Dominion with an 8-1 win on Sunday at the Metheny Baseball Complex.

The Seahawks improved to 7-1 in the league and 20-8 overall. ODU, meanwhile, dropped to 13-13 and 4-8.

MacDonald (3-0) surrendered a run in the first, but settled down to toss shutout baseball until he departed in the eighth. He allowed five hits and walked three while recording 14 outs on 13 ground balls.

Dick, who finished 4-for-5, knocked in three runs and connected on his fourth homer of the season in the eighth inning. Luis Renvill added two hits for UNCW.

Andy Roberts (1-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs, three earned, over six innings of work.

Jordan Negrini finished with two hits to lead ODU.

Next up: The Seahawks host College of Charleston on Apr. 2 in a 6 p.m. start. UNCW then hosts top-ranked North Carolina on Apr. 3, also at 6 p.m.

How it happened: UNCW opened a 6-0 lead after four innings. In the fourth, Terence Connelly doubled in a run, Renvill singled in a run and Hunter Ridge capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.
