Stephenson Shines, But UNCW Falls Twice

Release: 01/26/2013 WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Sophomore Hannah Stephenson won both Backstroke events and set a pool record for UNCW, but the Seahawks were swept by NC State on Saturday afternoon at the Seahawk Natatorium. NCSU won the women's meet 176-119 and completed the sweep with a 184-111 win on the men's side. Stephenson set a pool record in the 200 Backstroke with a winning time of 2:02.55. She captured first in the 100 Backstroke earlier in the meet. On the men's side, sophomore Valtteri Halonen posted UNCW's lone win while taking first in the 100 Backstroke. The Seahawk women host Campbell on Feb. 2, in the final home meet of the season for UNCW. |
