WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - UNCW volleyball Head Coach Amy Bambenek has announced the
signing of Alyssa Desjardins (Carrollton, Texas/Creekview) Nicole Lott (West
Chester, Penn./Bishop Shanahan) and Kristen Powell (Raleigh, N.C./ Garner
Magnet) to National Letters-of-Intent during the early signing period.
All three
will join the Seahawks program as freshmen for the 2013 season.

Desjardins: "Alyssa
may be small in size but she is going to be a huge addition to our program. She
will bring in a wealth of knowledge and high level experience having been a
starter for a top 5 nationally ranked volleyball club (TAV). Alyssa is quick
and dynamic and runs the offense from anywhere on the court. She is a
strong court leader and plays with a lot of emotion and will push her teammates
to compete hard. Alyssa will have the opportunity to make an impact right away,
and I’m excited to work with her and implement her skills into our program."

Bambenek on Lott: "Nicole is an outstanding all-around athlete that has experience in winning
championships. She is a fierce competitor and plays with a high level of
energy when she steps on the court. Each time I have seen her play she
has impressed me more and more with her speed and attacking power. Nicole has
received national recognition as an Under Armour High School All-American
Honorable Mention, as well has All-Tournament Team this past summer in the 17
National Division Championship. I expect Nicole to come in and help elevate our
team right away and envision a long successful career for her as a Seahawk."

on Powell: "Kristen has experience playing every position across the net, but over the
past year she has really developed into a dominant RS/OH during the club
season. Her height and versatility as an attacker sold us on her as a solid
addition to our team. She can contact the ball high and has great control
of her arm swing, and will also be a big blocking presence at the net. I’m very
excited about Kristen’s potential and what she will bring to our team."
