Seahawk Men Open Strong At ITA Regionals

Release: 10/19/2012 CARY, North Carolina - The UNCW men's tennis team carved out a 12-2 singles record for an outstanding opening day in the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships Thursday at the Cary Tennis Park. Six Seahawks remain alive in singles play. Two rounds of singles and one round of doubles are scheduled Friday. The four-day event features players from North Carolina and South Carolina and serves as the qualifier for the ITA National Indoor Championships. In action Thursday, UNCW junior Rafael Aita received a first-round bye before dispatching Presbyterian's William O'Connell, 6-4, 6-0. Teammates Zach Hublitz, Chris Cooprider, Michael Reilly, Sam Williams and Kosta Blank all won two matches to advance in the bracket. Thursday Results |
