PINEHURST, North
Carolina - UNCW women's golfer Lori Beth Adams carded a two-under-par 70 and
sits in third place after 36 holes of the 110th North & South Women's Amateur
Championship at Pinehurst No. 8.
A native of Burlington, N.C., Adams opened the week-long event that features some of the top amateur competitors in the country with a one-under-par 71 Tuesday on the par 72, 6,583-yard layout. She followed that performance with a two-under-par score on Wednesday, earning a spot in Thursday's final stroke-play round. The final 60 players and ties will compete for the 16-player match play field and medalist honors. The top 16 players who qualify for match play will compete on Pinehurst No. 2, playing two rounds a day until a champion is determined. A rising junior, Adams was a Second-Team All-CAA in 2011-12 as she helped the Seahawks to their second straight Colonial Athletic Association title and NCAA Regional appearance. She took part in all 11 events and ranked third on team with 77.03 stroke average in 33 rounds played. She posted two top-five finishes during the season, including a third-place result at the CAA Championships to earn All-Tournament Team accolades. |
