WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The 75th-ranked UNCW women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches by downing regional rival Coastal Carolina, 5-2, in non-conference action Wednesday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks improved to 10-5 on the season heading into a five-match road swing that begins this weekend in Norfolk, Va. The Chanticleers lost for only the third time this spring and stand 12-3.

In Wednesday's match, played under sunny skies with a slight breeze, UNCW swept all three doubles matches in convincing fashion for the early point, giving up just seven games.

The No. 3 team of Kelly Cameron and Miller Hales were the first off the court after an 8-0 demolition of CCU's Amanda Malatek and Kourtney Kowal. UNCW's top tandem of Christina Lee and Alyssa Ritchie then clinched the point by crushing Miki Bunea and Diana Mortlock, 8-2. Angie Sekely and Olga Blank continued the dominance with an 8-5 decision over Mikaela Kristofersson and Katie Fosnacht.

In singles, the Seahawks built on the momentum, taking the first three matches off the court to wrap up the match early. Christina Riley blitzed Amanda Hesketh, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 6 singles to raise the score to 2-0 and Ritche's 6-2, 6-4 victory against Kowal at the No. 5 position made the score 3-0. That left it up to Sekely to deliver the clincher and the Missasaugua, Ontario, product didn't disappoint, reeling off her 10th consecutive triumph by beating Kristofferson at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Lee, a senior from Charlotte, then gave the Seahawks their fifth point with her ninth singles win of the season in a 6-2, 7-5 victory against Bunea at the top of the lineup.

UNCW jumps back into Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend when the Seahawks take on two conference opponents in Norfolk. UNCW faces James Madison Saturday at 11 a.m. and then tackles Delaware Sunday at 10 a.m.
