WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW's men's doubles tandem of Kinshuk Sharma and Chris Cooprider have been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Doubles Team-of-the-Week after winning a pair of matches for the streaking Seahawks last week.
Sharma, a senior from Chandigarh, India, and Cooprider, a sophomore from Denver, Colo., have won nine of their last 10 matches. They own a 12-4 record on the season for the Seahawks, who climbed to No. 44 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.
In matches last week, the pair trimmed Coastal Carolina's Peter Billingham and Matt Gordon, 8-6, and rolled past South Carolina State's Gabriel Meana and Peteris Vinogradous, 8-1.
"Kinshuk and Coop have done a great job of staying focused on ways to get better," said fourth-year coach Mait DuBois. "They really communicate well on the court together and are constantly giving each other tips on what they can do better. I think this has been the key to their success. They have been a real rock for us and are very deserving of the recognition from the CAA."
The Seahawks, 17-4, wrap up their regular season on Thursday with a 3 p.m. match against rival East Carolina in Greenville, N.C.
