FAIRFAX, Va. - Led by Noelle
Fanella's match-high 14 kills, George Mason hit .307 as a team and swept
visiting UNC Wilmington, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-13), in Colonial Athletic
Association volleyball action at the Recreation and Athletic Complex on Friday.
The Seahawks had a three-match winning streak halted and dropped to 13-13
overall and 3-6 in the league. The Patriots, meanwhile, improved to 18-7 and
6-3 with their sixth win in their last seven outings.
GMU was led by an outstanding effort at the net, recording 12 total
blocks with Kelsey Bohman leading the way with nine total blocks. UNCW was only
able to muster a .009 hitting average in the sweep.
Leading the Seahawks offensively was senior outside hitter Lindsey Strucko with 13 kills in 38 attacks. No other Seahawk had more than three
kills.
Fanella completed a double-double effort with 14 digs. She was one two
Patriots to record double figures in digs. Koala Matsuoka held game-high honors
with 18 digs as GMU owned a 63-46 advantage.
Senior Ashlyn Morris picked up 13 digs for the Seahawks.
Next up for the Seahawks will be a visit to James Madison on Oct. 31. The
match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
