SOUTHPORT, North Carolina – UNCW senior Stefan Brewer recorded five birdies and finished three-under-par to take the early lead after 18 holes on Friday at the Colonial Athletic Association championships at the Founders Club golf course at St. James Plantation.

The Seahawks are in third place three strokes behind leader Towson while William & Mary is second, two strokes off the pace.

Joining Brewer in the top five is senior Payne McLeod, who finished with an even-par round.

The second round tees off on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Seahawks will be paired with James Madison and tee off on the first hole.
