WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW’s track and field programs will compete this weekend at the Charlotte Invitational as several athletes look to better their qualifying times/marks while others look to break into the top-48 in the region for a NCAA regional spot.

Heading up the Seahawks this weekend are Meena Reid and Cam Walton, who were honored as Colonial Athletic Association women’s track and men’s field athletes-of-the-week, respectively. Reid will compete in the 100 and 200 meters while Walton will do so in the Long and Triple Jumps. She’s ranked 54th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.72 seconds. Walton, meanwhile, is tied for 79th in the Long Jump (23-2) and 92nd in the Triple Jump.

UNCW’s top ranked Long Jumper is Brent Campbell, ranking 36th with a mark of 23-10.25 feet. Campbell, who’s been nursing a hamstring injury, will compete in the Long Jump this weekend.

Cody Love owns UNCW’s top-ranking, checking in at 11th in the 400 Hurdles. Love posted a time of 51.95 at the Bill Carson Invitational last weekend to achieve that top-20 ranking.

Aerial Chatman, a three-time NCAA qualifier, looks like he’ll make another trip in the Triple Jump as his mark of 49-8.5 feet at the Shamrock Invitational has him ranked 32nd in the East Region.

Freshman Margaret Edwards has made an immediate impact in the High Jump. Edwards jumped 5-8.75 feet at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, ranking her 24th.

The meet opens on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Heptathlon and Decathlon events and concludes on Saturday.
