JACKSONVILLE, Florida  – Host North Florida claimed the doubles point in narrow fashion and then added four singles victories to beat No. 52 UNCW, 5-2, in men’s tennis action Friday at the UNF Tennis Complex.

The Ospreys improved to 7-9 with their third straight victory. The Seahawks had their record evened at 6-6 on the season and stand 1-4 on the road this spring.

UNCW won the first doubles match off the court when Pedro Mol and Kaue Pereira, ranked 64th nationally, upset No. 34 Caio Gomes and Yannick Zuern, 8-6. But UNF rallied for wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to claim the early point.

The Ospreys raised the lead to 2-0 when Zuern, playing No.4 singles, downed Santtu Leskinen. But Pereira sliced the margin to 2-1 with a 6-3, 6-0 verdict over Zachary Goldberg. Mol squared the match at 2-all by dominating Norbert Nemcsek, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3 singles before UNF clinched the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles.

The Seahawks, who have played three consecutive away matches, return home on Wednesday (March 19) to entertain Yale of the Ivy League at 2 p.m.
