WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Fresh off its indoor debut last weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C., UNCW’s track and field program visits Winston-Salem for the Hilton Garden Invitational, hosted by Wake Forest.

In the season opener, senior Meena Reid finished second in the 60 meters and missed tying her program record of 7.48 seconds by .01. Also posting an impressive showing in her collegiate debut was Chryssandra Tatum who led a Seahawk 3-4-5 finish in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.08 meters.

Senior Aerial Chatman finished fourth in the men’s Triple Jump with a jump of 14.33 meters while junior Cam Walton was fifth at 14.28.

Several Seahawks moved up in the UNCW record books with solid performances. Senior Dylan Skinner moved into seventh in the mile (4:19.09) and sophomore Matt Foster ran the ninth fastest time in the 60-meter Hurdles (8.39).

On the national level, Reid’s 60 time ranks 53rd at the Division I level.

Seahawk throwers will make their debut this meet as senior Tierra Davis and freshmen Madeline Martin and Samantha Miller compete. Martin and Miller will compete in the Shot Put and all three will participate in the Weight Throw.

Following the  Hilton Garden Invitational, UNCW will head north to Happy Valley, Pa., for the Penn State Challenge on Feb. 7-8.
