WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW women’s basketball team opens a three-game homestand Thursday with an 11:30 a.m. matinee versus Liberty at Trask Coliseum.

Live stats and streaming video are available for the game and can be accessed by clicking on the respective links at the top of the page.

Thursday’s contest will serve as the seventh installment of the popular “Seahawks Tomorrow” program, which brings local elementary-school students to the UNCW campus for a day of activities. The Seahawks are 5-1 in their previous six “Seahawk Tomorrow” contests. UNCW suffered its first setback in the series with a 56-47 loss to visiting North Carolina A&T last January.

The Seahawks (1-9) return home after capping a five-game road swing Monday with a 68-44 setback at Wake Forest. Junior Kelva Atkins tallied 13 points to lead UNCW, who shot a chilly 29.5 percent (18-of-61) from the field and was just 4-of-18 (.222) from 3-point range against the Demon Deacons. Freshman Amber Reeves finished just shy of a double-double with season-highs of nine points and nine rebounds while freshman D'Asia Cain also pulled down a season-high nine boards.

Liberty (4-5) enters Thursday’s matinee looking to extend a three-game winning streak that features victories over Savannah State (89-79), Richmond (76-61) and Radford (70-49). Sophomore Ashley Rininger leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game as she is shooting 60.1 percent (61-of-101) from the floor and 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the free-throw line in the early going. Rininger has also excelled on the glass, averaging 10.1 rebounds per game to power a Lady Flames lineup that ranks second nationally in rebounding margin (+16.8). Liberty has out-rebounded opponents by an average of 21.7 boards per game in its last seven contests.

Liberty and UNCW are meeting for just the second time after starting a home-and-home series last December in Lynchburg, Va., a contest that saw the Lady Flames hold the Seahawks to just eight points in the second half on its way to an 84-34 triumph.

UNCW will take a nine-day break for the Christmas holiday after its matchup with the Lady Flames before continuing its three-game homestand Dec. 29 with a 2 p.m. matinee against Florida Atlantic.
