WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men’s tennis team hiked its record in the Seahawk Invitational to 19-3 after taking eight of 10 matches on the second day of the three-day event at the UNCW courts.
Coach Mait DuBois and his club dominated play once again against opponents from Davidson, Richmond and Tulane. No brackets are being used in the event, with the teams playing a doubles and singles opponent each day.
Sophomore Santtu Leskinen and freshman Karan Salwan won three-set matches to highlight the day. Leskinen outlasted Tulane’s Jao Chi-Shan, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (8), while Salwan prevailed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, over Tulane’s Cedric Rudsaert.
The Seahawks posted a 4-2 record in singles and unblemished 4-0 mark in doubles on Saturday.
Action concludes Sunday at 10 a.m. with singles and doubles matches. Admission is free.
