WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior Payne McLeod posted his 14th career top-10 finish and was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Golfer-of-the-Week along with Drexel’s Christopher Crawford, who won the Cornell Invitational.
McLeod, the reigning CAA Champion, finished second overall at the Rees Jones Invitational earlier this week, finishing with an even-par score of 216 for the three round event. He entered the final round three-under-par before finishing four strokes off the pace.
The Seahawks finished fourth in the tournament field that included tournament champion Kennesaw State, South Florida, South Carolina and Liberty.
UNCW also collected 44 birdies at the tournament raising its total to 85 on the young season. The Seahawks are raising money for former UNCW standout Derek Brown and his family.
McLeod joins teammate Ryan Nagy as CAA Golfers-of-the-Week this fall.
UNCW returns to action at the Wolfpack Invitational on Oct. 6-7.
