WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men’s tennis team went 4-2 in singles and 1-3 in doubles during play Saturday at the U.Va. Ranked+1 Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., and the Ivy Plus Invitational in New Haven, Conn.

Four Seahawks went 1-2 in singles and 0-1 in doubles on the second day of action at the University of Virginia’s Snyder Tennis Center.

Senior Rafael Aita advanced in the fifth place bracket in the Orange Singles draw with a 7-5, 6-2, victory over N.C. State’s Austin Powell. He will face N.C. State’s Simon Norenius for fifth place.

In other action, junior Zach Hublitz dropped a marathon 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 match with Adam Lee of Wake Forest in Blue Singles.

In the White Singles back draw, Louisville’s Sebastien Stiefelmeyer zipped past UNCW junior Sam Williams, 6-3, 6-0.

Williams and Aita were edged in Red Doubles action by Louisville’s Albert Wagner and Alex Gornet, 9-7. Play wraps up Sunday in singles and doubles as the bracketed event concludes in Charlottesville, Va.

In New Haven, meanwhile, Seahawk players fashioned a 3-0 record in singles and a 1-2 mark in doubles. Sophomore Santtu Leskinen advanced to the semifinals of the B Singles consolation draw with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision over Brown’s Sam Fife.
