WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Winners of three of its last four contests, the UNCW women’s soccer team looks to continue its winning ways Thursday as it hosts Coastal Carolina in a 7 p.m. contest at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

Putting the finishing touches on a three-game homestand, UNCW carries a 3-5-0 ledger into its matchup with the Chanticleers after capturing the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational last weekend with a pair of 4-2 victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Longwood.

The Seahawks have had little trouble finding the back of the net over its past four outings, combining to score 12 goals in those contests.  Sophomore Maddie McCormick, the CAA’s Player-of-the-Week, has tallied all of her team-leading nine points (4 G, 1 A) during that span, including a seven-point effort in the UNCW Courtyard Marriott Wilmington Invitational last weekend to take home MVP honors. Junior Stephanie Bronson has also played a key role in the team’s recent offensive ourburst, having scored in three of the past four contests.

Coastal Carolina brings a 3-3-1 overall record into Thursday’s matchup as it looks to get back in the win column after a 3-1 loss to UAB at home last Friday. Sophomore Fia Jonsson leads a balanced Chanticleers lineup in scoring with three goals as six other players have combined to tally the team’s six other goals this season. Senior Spencer Morgan has started all seven games in goal for Head Coach Paul Hogan’s squad and has posted a 0.99 goals against average to goal along with 28 saves and three shutouts.

Thursday’s game marks the eighth meeting between the two programs. The Seahawks hold a 6-1 edge in the series, including a 1-0 victory last September that saw McCormick score the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute.

UNCW closes out the non-conference portion of its 2013 schedule Sunday with a 2 p.m. contest at Francis Marion.
