CAA Player of the Week Nominee: Corey Dick, Soph., Inf., Albemarle, N.C./Albemarle

- Corey Dick hit .444 on the week going 8-for-18 with two doubles and a homer. In the series finale at ODU, he banged out four hits. On the week, he knocked in four runs, posted a .474 on base average and a .722 slugging percentage. Versus ODU he finished 7-for-14.

CAA Pitcher of the Week Nominee: Mat Batts, RS-Jr., LHP, Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor (Western Carolina)

- Batts tossed his second straight complete game shutout in a series opening 1-0 win at ODU. He scattered three hits, walked two and struck out eight, setting a season high. He held the Monarchs to a .107 batting average on the evening. The last Seahawk to toss back-to-back complete game shutouts was Jake Mullis in 2001 against Charlotte and Coastal Carolina.

Record Watch: Hunter Ridge, who became UNCW’s all-time hits leader in March, is poised to take the lead in RBI’s. Ridge knocked in eight runs last week to move into the team lead with 26 and third all-time with 176 RBI. Jonathan Batts (2004-07) holds the school career record with 182 while former standout Matt Wright (2000-03) is second with 180 … Michael Bass (14-for-14) moved into a tie with Chip Grawey (2000-04) for fifth with 64 stolen bases.

Streaks: Michael Bass extended his hitting streak to 24 games, second longest in UNCW history, with a double in the series finale at ODU and his on base streak has now stretched to 30 games, dating back to last season … During his hitting streak, Bass is hitting at a .429 clip (39-91), scored 31 runs and knocked in 18 … The school record is 26 games set in 2001 by Magnus Pilegard. Bass exited the series finale after the fourth inning with an ankle injury, he is day-to-day.

 Domination on the mound: The Seahawks allowed just one earned run and four total in sweeping Old Dominion. The staff posted a 2.00 ERA for the week while going 3-1. Earlier this season, the Seahawks held Lehigh to one earned run and five total in the three-game series. UNCW ranks third behind Northeastern and William & Mary in the CAA with a 3.54 ERA. Jordan Ramsey owns a 0.86 ERA in conference play and is among the conference leaders with a 1.46 ERA. Mat Batts is second on the staff with a 2.47 ERA that also ranks among the conference elite.

Notes: Kelly Secrest pitched the final out of UNCW’s 6-3 win over ODU to notch his second save of the season … The Seahawks own a record of 16-4, including four sweeps, against schools in the final regular season series of their final season as a member of the CAA (American 3-0, Drexel 3-0, East Carolina 1-2, Georgia State 3-0, Richmond 1-1, ODU 3-0, VCU 2-1) … UNCW improved to 4-3 on the road in 2013 and is 14-2 in its last 16 games … Mat Batts’ last two starts have totaled four hours and 12 minutes … Christian MacDonald pitched into the eighth inning for the third time this season after going 7.1 innings at ODU ... His career long is 7.2 against Lehigh … On the week covering two appearance, he posted a 0.93 ERA and limited opponents to a .176 batting average.
