WILMINGTON, North
Carolina - Jordan Ramsey was named Colonial Athletic Association
Co-Pitcher-of-the-Week after a strong outing against nationally-ranked San
Diego on Saturday during the Hughes Bros. Baseball Challenge.
Ramsey, a sophomore, went toe-to-toe with USD junior Dylan
Covey, who was a first-round draft pick out of high school, as both tossed
shutout baseball in a game that was decided in extra innings. Neither pitcher figured
in the decision.
In 6 and 2/3 innings, Ramsey scattered four hits and walked
three while striking out six.
Ramsey lowered his earned run average to 2.33 following the
start and has not allowed an earned run in his last 14 and 2/3 innings.
The award is the fourth of his career after being the CAA
Rookie-of-the-Week three times in 2012. He shared the award with Patrick
Toohers, a sophomore from James Madison who held Hartford in check during an
11-3 win.
The Seahawks host undefeated VCU (9-0) in a three-game
series beginning on Friday at 4 p.m.
