The tandems of Florida State/Texas A&M and Tennessee/Texas San Antonio are tied for second with scores of 368.The Seahawks, paired with the Spartans, are in sixth place with an opening round total of 400. "I felt that we hit the ball well off the tee on the front nine, but we struggled in other areas and that hurt us," said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. "I think a lot of that had to do with nerves, as with it being the first tournament of the spring, many of our kids are the lineup for the first time in awhile. I was happy with how we were able to compose ourselves on the back nine. There was a big difference between our play on the front nine and back nine and hopefully that is something we can build off of in our round tomorrow." Junior Lori Beth Adams paced the Seahawks with a seven-over-par 79 and is tied with UNC Greensboro's Andrea Rangel for 50th place. Sophomore Mattie Tobey is one shot back of Adams in a tie for 52nd at eight-over while junior Jeanne Metivier is 58th at nine-over-par. Sophomore Mallory Warrick (83/T-62nd) and junior Megan Burnham (87/62nd) completed out the Seahawks entry. Georgia's Rocio Sanchez Lobato carded a six-under-par 66 on Friday to open a three-shot lead over the individual field. Furman's Laura Warren is in second with a three-under 69 while Tennessee's Erica Popson is in third at two-under 70. Second-round action in the FSU Match-up gets underway Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The Seahawks are scheduled to begin their round at 9:15 a.m.
