WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - UNCW's Kosta Blank and Michael Reilly captured singles titles and Pedro Mol combined with Zach Hublitz for a doubles crown on the final day of the Wake Forest Fall Tennis Invitational Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Blank cruised Wake's Sam Bloom, 6-2, 6-2, in the final of the B Singles flight, while Reilly topped Furman's Matt Browne, 6-2, 6-4, in the C Singles finale.
In doubles action featuring an all-UNCW final, Mol and Hublitz edged Reilly and Kaue Pereira, 8-5, to claim the C Doubles crown.
"I am very pleased with our overall performance this weekend," said Head Coach Mait DuBois. "To win three different draws at a very strong tournament gives us a lot of confidence going into next weekends regional event.
"As a coach, it's always very rewarding to see the hard work of our players pay off for them. Michael Reilly has been really working hard on his game and playing a more complete game style was a big adjustment for him, but it is really paying off for him. Winning a singles flight and making the finals of the doubles says a lot about the strides he has made. Also, Zach Hublitz has really been putting some extra work into his doubles and for him to claim his first collegiate doubles title shows his determination paying off. I enjoyed watching their success this weekend.
"We can always count on Kosta being the real consistent rock of our team and he once again put in a very professional performance. He went 4-0 in singles, won his flight and went 2-1 in doubles. His consistency day-in and day-out for us makes such an impact on our younger players. He has made several additions to his game as well and is looking extremely strong."
