CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Rising senior Lori Beth Adams carded an even par 71 on Tuesday to advance to the match play portion of the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at the Country Club of Charleston.

Adams finished the stroke play portion of the championship with a 36-hole total of two-over-par 144 (73-71) to earn a share of 16th place. She will face Cal State Northridge junior Clariss Guce in the first round of match play Wednesday at 9:50 a.m.

Playing in the afternoon wave of the 156-player event, Adams began the round on the back nine with bogeys on the 13th and 17th holes to open with a two-over par 37. On the front, Adams would bogey the 1st hole to move to three-over before recording a birdie on three of the final six holes, including the 7th and 8th, to rally for an even-par 71.

Japan’s Yumi Matsubara fired a seven-under-par 64 on Tuesday to claim the stroke play title with a two-round total of 135 (71-64). Matsubara finished five strokes ahead of three players, including first-round leader Allisen Corpuz.
