WILMINGTON, North Carolina –UNCW junior guard Kelva Atkins was once again recognized for her outstanding 2013-14 season as she was named Second-Team All-State by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).

A native of Stem, N.C., Atkins was a Second-Team All-CAA selection as she led the Seahawks in scoring (15.8), assists (3.2) and steals (2.1) while ranking second on the squad in rebounds (5.5). She was one of two players in the CAA to rank among the top 20 players in points (4th), rebounds (17th), steals (4th) and assists (8th).

Atkins capped her junior campaign by earning All-Tournament Team honors at the CAA Women’s Basketball Championship for the second consecutive season as she averaged 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in leading UNCW to a 1-1 record in the tournament.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.

NCCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.
