DURHAM, N.C. - UNC Wilmington freshman outfielder Kelsey Eddinger has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association University Division All-State Softball Team, organization officials announced Thursday.

“We are excited that Kelsey has once again been recognized for an outstanding freshman season,” said UNCW Head Coach Kelly Van Houten. “It is a well deserved honor for a player like Kelsey who worked hard and gave her all each and every day this season.”   

A Second-Team All-CAA and All-Rookie Team honoree, Eddinger hit .327 during her freshman season as she recorded 33 hits, highlighted by 10 extra-base knocks that included four homeruns and a team-high three triples. The Benson, N.C., product was also quite effective on the base-paths, going 6-for-7 in stolen base attempts. Eddinger, who started 42 games in centerfield for the Seahawks, contributed a team-high six outfield assists while committing just two errors.

 Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina's NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state.

 NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball and baseball. More than 500 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.
