WILMINGTON, N.C. ? Former UNC Wilmington standout Brad Knighton will make his Major League Soccer debut this evening when he starts in goal for the New England Revolution.
Knighton, who starred between the pipes for the Seahawks from 2003 to 2006, will make the start for the Revs against longtime rival New York Red Bull at Giants Stadium.
While with the Seahawks, Knighton became the program's all-time leader in goals against average (1.08) and shutouts (24).
UNCW Head Coach Aidan Heaney also made his debut in 1996 with the Revs and saw action in 19 matches and compiling an 8-9 record.
Prior to joining the Revolution this season, Knighton played with the Revolution's reserve squad and also played with the Portland Timbers, on loan, last season.
Tonight's game will be broadcast on the Fox Soccer Channel at starts at 7:30 p.m.
