WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW rising junior Meredith Peacock has been selected to take part in the 10th Annual European Global Challenge.

Teamming up with collegiate players from some of the top volleyball programs in the nation, including Kansas, New Mexico, Pittsburgh, Ohio State and Texas, Peacock and her squad will leave for Eastern Europe in early July was it will spend four days training in Slovenia before heading to Pula, Croatia for the four-day event (July 14-17). The team will play against Junior National teams from Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia as well as club squads from Italy, Serbia, Austria and Romania as they prepare for the upcoming European Championships.

A native of Charlotte, N.C., Peacock enjoyed a standout sophomore season that saw her earn Second-Team All-CAA accolades as she helped lead UNCW to a 20-10 overall record and a semifinal appearance in the CAA Championship.

Offensively, Peacock averaged 1.72 kills per frame and turned in a .259 hitting percentage, but the 6-1 middle blocker was most effective on the defensive side of the ball. She finished the season with 154 total blocks, ranking fourth in the nation in blocks per set (1.54) and powering a UNCW blocking effort that was 12th in the country in that category (2.85).
