Former Clemson middle blocker Brittany Fennell joined Head Coach Amy Bambenek's staff as an assistant coach in April.

A native of Hendersonville, N.C., Fennell works with the program’s middles, while also being involved with recruiting and day-to-day office needs.

“Associate Head Coach (AJ) Bonetti and I are excited to have Brittany join our staff,” said Bambenek. “She brings a fresh perspective to the gym as well as being a great role model for our players. Brittany was an outstanding middle blocker at Clemson and will be able to focus on training this position as we hope to remain at the top of our conference for blocking and attacking next season.”

Prior to joining the Seahawks, Fennell served as the head coach at Village Christian Academy in Fayetteville, N.C., guiding the Knights to an 18-4 record during the 2013 season. Fennell was also active on the club volleyball level in the Fayetteville region, working as an assistant coach with the Fayetteville Area Volleyball Association.

A four-year scholarship recipient at Clemson, Fennell helped the Tigers make two appearances in the NCAA Tournament before injuries curtailed her playing career. The team’s Rookie-of-the-Year in 2008, Fennell also played for a USA Volleyball/Bring It Productions Development team in an international tournament held in Pula, Croatia, during the summer of 2009.

Off the court, Fennell was active in the Clemson community, serving on both the Solid Orange Squad and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A member of the Health Honor Society, Eta Sigma Gamma, Fennell graduated from Clemson in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science.
