WILMINGTON, North Carolina - UNCW and Coastal Carolina close out their annual home-and-home series this evening. Both teams enter the game looking to rebound following losses to in-state rivals. The Seahawks fell 9-4 at UNC Chapel Hill while the Chanticleers dropped a 3-2 decision in 10 innings to visiting Citadel.

Terence Connelly led the Seahawks with three hits last night in Chapel Hill while Corey Dick added a pair of his own. UNCW opened the game with two runs in the top of the first and held a lead, 2-1, into the fourth inning when the Tar Heels took the lead for good with two runs. UNCW moved to within 6-4 in the eighth with two runs, but UNC answered that with three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 9-4 lead.

Earlier this season, UNCW outlasted Coastal Carolina, 7-3, in a marathon game that lasted more than four hours.

Sophomore righthander Evan Phillips (1-2) will make his fifth start of the season and Coastal Carolina will counter with freshman lefthander Dalton Moats (0-3), who will take the mound as a starter for the sixth time in 2014.

The Seahawks return to conference play this weekend at William & Mary. The series begins on Friday at 7 p.m. Friday and Sunday’s game can be head locally in Wilmington on AM630 as well as on the web at UNCWsports.com Saturday’s contest will be broadcast on HawkVision for free.

UNCW has made a pair of schedule adjustments. The Seahawks will visit North Carolina Central on Apr. 9 and East Carolina on Apr. 16.
