HARRISONBURG, VirginiaDillon Bass had a career-high four hits and Luke Dunlap added three as UNCW evened its Colonial Athletic Association series at James Madison on Saturday with a 6-4 victory at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Seahawks raised their record to 12-13 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Dukes, meanwhile, saw their mark dip to 9-15 and 1-1.

Bass led the UNCW lineup with two runs batted in while Dunlap scored twice and swiped his first base of the season. Both collected a double on the afternoon.

Ty McFarland had two hits for JMU, including his seventh homer of the season. Tyler Gregory added a round tripper of his own that tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Junior Jordan Ramsey (1-2) earned his first win of the season, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. Sophomore Ryan Foster allowed one hit over the final three innings to earn his first career save.

JMU starter Chris Huffman (3-3) took the loss after surrendering five runs, four earned, on 12 hits and four walks over seven innings.

How it happened: After seeing JMU tie the game at 4-all in the sixth on Gregory’s homer, UNCW jumped on Huffman in the seventh. Dunlap doubled to right with one out and with two outs, Gavin Stupienksi drew a walk to extend the inning. Bass stepped up and lined a single to left to score Dunlap with the go-ahead run. Bass would strike again in the ninth when he doubled in Robbie Thorburn with two outs to make it 6-4.

Inside the box score: UNCW landed its leadoff hitter on safely in 5-of-9 innings … The Seahawks also plated all three runners from third base with less than two out … UNCW hitters also did a solid job of advancing 14 base runners in 27 opportunities … JMU’s leadoff hitter was just 2-for-9 … Ramsey limited JMU to one hit in 11 at bats with runners on base … JMU was also just 2-for-10 with two outs.

Notes: Ramsey, who missed time with a finger injury and just returned to the rotation, went six innings for the second time this season … Casey Golden extended his hitting streak to 10 games while Ryan LaGrange and Dunlap extended their on-base streaks to 17 and 15 games, respectively … Dunlap is hitting .412 (21-for-51) in his last 15 games and raised his season average to .339 … UNCW now stands at 4-1 in games decided by two runs.
