WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior Rafael Aita has been named Player-of-the-Week in singles and Pedro Mol and Kaue Pereira have captured Doubles Team-of-the-Week honors from the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Seahawks, ranked 52nd in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, return to action Friday at North Florida. UNCW has played seven nationally-ranked opponents this spring.

The 53rd-ranked Aita nabbed the award as the CAA’s top singles player for the second consecutive week after posting two victories at the top of the lineup. The Lima, Peru, netter has won seven matches in a row and dispatched Georgia State’s Thomas Cook, 6-1, 6-4, and No. 64 Roberto Cid of South Florida, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, last week.

Mol and Pereira, meanwhile, are ranked No. 64 nationally in doubles and also cruised to a pair of victories over No. 2 doubles opponents. The tandem topped Valentin Horvat and Felipe Jaworski of GSU, 8-2, and upset No. 35 Oliver Pramming and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz of USF, 8-4.

Mol and Pereira own a 7-2 record in doubles action and have won four straight heading into Friday’s trip to Jacksonville.
