WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men’s soccer program was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for its success in the classroom as a NSCAA Team Academic Award recipient.

The Seahawks were one of 275 men’s programs at all three levels of the NCAA to earn the distinction for the 2012-13 academic year. It marks the third time in the last four years that UNCW has earned the accolade.

“This award is testament to the efforts of our players in the classroom and their ability to balance the demands of being a student-athlete at the Division 1 level. As a coach, it speaks volumes to their work ethic and study habits to continue to perform at such a high level in the classroom. Sometimes you have teams who may have a strong season on the field but their academic performance dips - this group has proven to be conscientious in all aspects of their lives at UNCW.  Special thanks must go to our Academic Support staff for their assistance and guidance with our players.”

UNCW was one of 192 schools, again including all three divisions of the NCAA, to have its men’s and women’s program earn the honor.
