|Bronson Honored For Academics By NSCAA|
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior midfielder Stephanie Bronson has been named a First-Team Women's Scholar All-South Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Bronson becomes the third Seahawk to be honored for her efforts both on the field and in the classroom as former standouts Stephanie Rose and Kim Currie were both recognized following the 2012 season.
“The combination of high academic and excellent athletic standards is always the goal for any Division I student-athlete,” said UNCW Head Coach Paul Cairney. “I am very happy for Stephanie. She is an industrious soccer player who goes 100% for 90 minutes. This same work ethic is also evident in her great GPA.”
“As a team, I am very proud of our fall 2013 academic achievements. Stephanie shares this recognition with her teammates.”
A native of Raleigh, Bronson was a First-Team All-CAA selection as she ranked third on the team in scoring with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Bronson took part in all 19 games for the Seahawks this season and was third on the team with 37 shot attempts. She scored the game-winning goal in the Seahawks’ 3-2 victory at East Carolina in September.
Majoring in Mathematics, Bronson has also excelled in the classroom as she has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.86. A two-time Dean’s List honoree, Bronson has also received the Golden Seahawk Award and the CAA Commissioners Academic Award.
